New CD - January 16, 2026

The Wishing Well

The Wishing Well is the 23rd album by the band 2002. It's a collection of new songs inspired by tales from other lands as well as by a few personal stories. The album opens with an overture celebrating the original instruments and rhythms that comprise the signature sound of 2002, a sound that continues to evolve over 3 decades later. Bellehaven revisits the birthplace of the band in a garage converted to a recording studio. The Spiral of Heaven recounts a journey to the Four Corners region of the United States 34 years ago, a magical place where the stars seemed close enough to reach out and touch. Savitri’s Dream harkens back to a beloved book, that many years later became a soundtrack album of songs. Other songs touch on legends and myths from other cultures and how we are all connected in the end. The Wishing Well is indeed a personal journey and we invite you to come along!

One of the finest new age instrumental music albums of the decade thus far

Steve Sheppard, One World Music Radio

For me personally 2002 are the very top of what we lovingly call the New Age music genre, even on a recent poll they narrowly came in behind Enya at number 2, and she doesn’t even class herself as a new age artist, for me it’s always a delight when a new album is on offer, here is a band who have stayed true to their cause over the years, and have never once failed to bring their audience and the world a quality release, and here on this brand new album gifted to the world in 2026 called The Wishing Well, we have another slice of the beautiful musical pie, one lovingly baked over the years by the Copus family, and laid before us on our table of tonal dreams and delights.

Overture: The Restless Heart starts our onward journey in a proud keyboard synth styled opus that is as grand as the highest mountain, and as deep as the darkest ocean. The swirling keyboards gift us a sublime scenic view of the voyage ahead for the band, with traditional stylings wrapped in a fluent blanket of sound, also featuring guest artist Keyreel Raskolenko on violin.

If ever you wanted an artist to create something meaningful and full of emotion, you would need to look no further than 2002, and here is that very piece right before you, and called Three Wishes. This song is beautiful, but it has a mysterious lilt to its proceedings, perhaps just a hint of something deeper in the weave of the explorative musical narration, one that is gloriously cinematic and proud of it.

On Twilight we are treated to something quite beautiful, in fact I would go as far to say transcendent; a light childlike narrative is explored in a gentle cohesive way, the harp and guitar combine to add a wonderful juxtaposition between the strings, keys and lush ethereal vocals.

"it’s no suprise why they’re at the very top of the New Age genre"

by Cocomyrrh

For more than 30 years, the music band 2002 has been making music that feeds the soul. They have a style that you can’t mistake for anyone else. The group is a family affair, started by husband and wife Pamela and Randy Copus and now features their daughter, Sarah. Their music style is a beautiful mix of New Age, Soft Rock and Classical music and this style has landed them on the Billboard charts 12 different times. They have also won a Lifetime Achievement Award.

With their latest album The Wishing Well, released on January 16, 2026 via Galactic Playground Music, the Copus family once again reminds us why they remain one of the most loved and respected names in New Age music. The wishing well is their 23rd album and it feels especially thoughtful and personal. The idea behind it is simple but powerful: each song is like a wish dropped into still water, sent out with hope and intention. That feeling runs through the entire album. It’s inspired by personal memories, spiritual journeys, myths from different cultures, and moments that have shaped the Copus family’s life together.

The album was released through Galactic Playground Music and it’s just as perfect as an album should be. In this album, they explore the latest technology (like Dolby Atmos) to make the music sound cinematic but the heart of it is still Pamela’s flute and Harp, Randy’s keys and guitar and Sarah’s angelic voice.

Every song on this album tells a story and you can tell from the first note that the album is calm and inviting. The first song “Overture: The Restless Heart” opens the journey with a grand yet gentle touch. The swirling keyboards and rich textures feel like a look back at where the band began, while guest violinist Keyreel Raskolenko adds an emotional lift that makes the track soar. It sets the tone beautifully.

Three Wishes follows with a bit of Mystery. Inspired by old legends about genies and wishes, there’s a magical, storytelling feel to it.

The Spiral of Heaven; This song was inspired by a trip the family took to the desert 34 years ago. You can almost hear the vastness of the stars and the quiet of the canyon in the music.

The mood lifts with “Dream Chasers,” a bright and joyful track that celebrates creativity and possibility. Piano, flute, guitar, and vocals weave together in a way that feels playful and alive. It’s easy to understand why this piece has already found a home in meditation and wellness playlists.

Midway through the album, tracks like “Moon Lore” and “A Safe Harbor” slow things down again. Moon Lore draws inspiration from Turtle Island symbolism and lunar cycles, giving it a gentle, flowing rhythm. A Safe Harbor feels like a deep breath—calm, reassuring, and grounding in a way that feels especially welcome in uncertain times.

Then comes Bellhaven, a tribute to the garage where the band first started recording. It is a lovely Thank you to their own beginnings. There’s a strong sense of gratitude here, and it feels like a loving nod to how far they’ve come.

The album closes with “Savitri’s Dream,” a truly beautiful ending. This song is based on a famous book of Poetry that Pamela and Randy both loved. It ends the album with a sense of peace and wonder.

Personally, I’ll say the band 2002 has never failed to deliver and they’re the best at what they do because they prioritize Quality and it’s no suprise why they’re at the very top of the New Age genre.

The Wishing Well is not just another album, it’s a heartfelt gift from one family to the rest of the world. The copus family has managed to bottle up 34years of love and magic into ten perfect tracks and i recommend you listen. You’ll find this album to be a safe harbor.  I promise that with every listen, you’ll come back to the surface feeling much lighter.

"music that soothes, reflects, and quietly resonates long after it ends"

Musikepool

The Wishing Well unfolds like a carefully told story, where each track feels like a thought placed gently into still water. From the very beginning, the album makes it clear that this is a reflective and emotionally guided work, shaped by experience, patience, and a deep understanding of atmosphere. Rather than rushing from moment to moment, 2002 allow the music to breathe, giving every song its own emotional space while still feeling part of a larger whole. The album opens with Overture: The Restless Heart, which immediately sets the tone. There’s a sense of quiet searching in this piece, as if the music is circling an unanswered question. The violin work adds a subtle tension and emotional pull, while the flowing arrangement feels both unsettled and hopeful. It works perfectly as an introduction, easing the listener into the album’s world without overwhelming them.
